Cannes Is Nice But I Love Our Pool More, part 12

June 2: Aquatic Living in Cannes

>> We arrived in Cannes around 4PM on Tuesday, amazed at the size and grandeur of our hotel, the Pierre & Vacances Residence Cannes Villa Francia. Here is an overhead view of the hotel that I swiped from the website:

Each of its 250+ rooms is designed as a small-to-mid-sized apartment that includes a bedroom, a two-part bathroom (common in France), an interior dining area, a kitchenette, sofa-bed (and second Murphy bed) and a furnished balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. All have outdoor entrances, with many accessible through a warren of steps and avenues, somewhat reminiscent of a medieval village.

What amazed us the most was its huge swimming pool that is probably three sizes larger than any I've ever seen outside of Hong Kong's public pools. Best is the pool's infinity edge which makes it appear as though it was connected with the Med.

Located within 1.5 miles from Cannes main tourist district (walkable for those who can walk and for those rather not, the hotel runs a shuttle bus), the entire complex is a delight, but, as I said above, what I especially love is its pool. The following pictures should show "why."

This is the lounge and dining area:

And this is the infinity pool itself. Although busy from around 9AM to 7PM, the pool is so large that you don't feel compromised by other swimmers in your vacinity:

As long as the weather is puff-perfect, no matter where I'll be making hotel reservations in France from here-on, I plan on making sure that there's a pool where we stay.
