Things to Do in New York City - NY Activities and Events Calendar
>> As of April 2012, Littleviews' Events and Exhibits Listings are officially closed.
Our events and exhibits posting have had a long and successful run! Unfortunately, two things occurred that force me to close it. The first is because I work full-time in New Jersey, I don't have enough time to properly edit it. And the second is that malicious spammers hit my database and corrupted it so badly that it is not worth my time to create a repair.
So what happens when a database is corrupted? A secret URL is embedded in various records and if that record appears in the form of a website page on your browser when you are surfing, a pop-up window opens that cannot be closed without your participation in infecting your computer.
No matter what site you might be on, you can tell when you hit a corrupted database record when a pop-up window appears that, for a PC, cannot be closed by clicking on the upper, right-hand corner. (I do not know what might happen when the corrupt database is accessed by a mobile phone or a MAC, but I assume it is something bad.)
On a PC, the way to safely exit the malicious website is to hit Control+Alt+Delete to bring up Task Manager, and then shut down all browser sessions. If you touch the malicious window any place except by the top, right X, you will infect your computer. Note that the malicious window cannot be closed by clicking on the X because additional windows spawn, all of which will infect your computer, so I suggest that you do not even try.
If you realize your error, immediately run Windows "reset" utility and have it reset your system for a previous timeframe. It is also wise to check your computer with anti-virus software.
